Afghanistan Veteran Jess Reunited with Dog Emma

Jessamyn Jempson reunited with dog EmmaWhen Capt. Jessamyn Jempson needed help finding foster care for her Rhodesian Ridgeback, Emma, she turned to a non-profit organisation that supports USA troops by boarding their pets.

Through Dogs on Deployment, Capt. Jempson was linked up with Silvia Washington, a volunteer who offered to board her 3-year-old pup while she was deployed in Afghanistan for a year.

Dogs on Deployment is a charitable website that matches soldiers dogs with foster homes, so the dogs of military members can be safely cared for by volunteers while their owners are on deployment and handed back on their return.

"Our mission is to give military member’s peace of mind concerning their pets when it’s time to deploy by providing them with the ability to find people willing to help them."

The central database helps American military members find families and individuals who are willing to board their pets while they are deployed. DoD explains "No pet should ever be surrendered due to a military commitment. DoD exists to help military members keep their pets by alleviating the need for pet relinquishment from military members due to the hardships of deployments."

In this wonderful clip from The Queen Latifah Show we see Jess, who served in Afghanistan for a year, reunited with her dog Emma. Get ready for tears of joy for this reunited pair.
